This month we finally did it...we now have one finished room! We busted our butts to get the den finished before Mike's uncle John, the plumber, came to help. I don't think either of us really realized all the steps involved in drywalling a room. It took us nearly two weeks just to do that, and then there was still so much more to be done. We managed to get moved into our new room and put up a temporary wall between our nice living space and the demo. side of the house. Mike's folks came the last weekend in October and helped us finish getting ready for John by tearing out our laundry room, our dining room and our bathroom. It's been quite a busy month and every weekend was spent working on the house.

The ceiling sure was a pain, but the walls went up much easier. Here's our first wall board being hung

Mike's finishing up the last screws on our first new wall.

We worked our way to the window and Mike used the rotozip to cut out the window hole.

Before hanging drywall we had a few more support boards to put up to help stiffen the wall and add attachment points for the wall board.

Mike planned it all out pretty well. Here's how it looked before the walls went up.

All hung, now there's just 5 or 6 more steps before we're pretty much done.

So, we taped and mudded.

Then we sanded and mudded again.

Then we sanded and mudded again, then sanded. Next step was the primer.

The final step was the paint, but we bought the cheap stuff.

So, we of course had to put on two coats.

Once we moved all our things into the den, Mike and I put up a temporary wall to keep the pets out of the demo zone.

We saved much of the demo for Ron since he was a bit disappointed before when he miss out. Mike had already removed the panelling to find this lovely wallpaper - yuck!

We tore out the dining room pretty quick and had it cleaned up in no time.

Then it was on to the laundry room. That took a bit longer, there was insulation that was getting eaten by silverfish, but 4 pairs of hands makes for pretty light work.
