Mike installed
new brakes on the van and got it to pass inspections. That was
an amazing feat! During the second week, Mike finished clearing
out what remained on the second floor. Then we got a call from
my folks, they were going to a meeting in Columbus and figured
they would stop by for a weekend and lend a hand on the house.
So, we came up with a few projects, leveling the crawlspace floor
in the den and hauling trash. We had been on the dumpster waiting
list now for three months and the trash had to go soon! Mike got
started pulling up the floorboards in the den. My folks came on
the 14th and we worked hard hauling 4.4 tons of trash to the transfer
station (a 30 minute drive away). Once we completed the trips
to the dump (to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump - a
little tune we developed along the way!), Mike and Dad worked
hard removing the remaining floor boards in the den. Mom and I
got are hands dirty while we planted garlic, cleaned gutters and
power-washed the back patio. On Saturday we all dug in and leveled
out the crawlspace. This was an amazing accomplishment, it was
very dry dusty work and Mike hauled out the heavy rocks.
We're receiving
a number of supplies for the house tomorrow...lumber, insulation,
wiring etc. We should have plenty to keep us busy for the foreseeable
future, but I have a feeling we'll be working on patching floors
for a while.
