Mike installed new brakes on the van and got it to pass inspections. That was an amazing feat! During the second week, Mike finished clearing out what remained on the second floor. Then we got a call from my folks, they were going to a meeting in Columbus and figured they would stop by for a weekend and lend a hand on the house. So, we came up with a few projects, leveling the crawlspace floor in the den and hauling trash. We had been on the dumpster waiting list now for three months and the trash had to go soon! Mike got started pulling up the floorboards in the den. My folks came on the 14th and we worked hard hauling 4.4 tons of trash to the transfer station (a 30 minute drive away). Once we completed the trips to the dump (to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump - a little tune we developed along the way!), Mike and Dad worked hard removing the remaining floor boards in the den. Mom and I got are hands dirty while we planted garlic, cleaned gutters and power-washed the back patio. On Saturday we all dug in and leveled out the crawlspace. This was an amazing accomplishment, it was very dry dusty work and Mike hauled out the heavy rocks.

We're receiving a number of supplies for the house tomorrow...lumber, insulation, wiring etc. We should have plenty to keep us busy for the foreseeable future, but I have a feeling we'll be working on patching floors for a while.

Here's a picture of Spencer..just because he's cute.

Mike's Grandparents & Mom came to visit us on a raining weekend...driving us all indoors.

Here's Spencer again...what a spoiled doggy with such a large couch.

My folks and I with our last load of trash to take to the transfer station.

Here's our very empty looking garage...Yippee!!!!

This is what we found under the den. The pile of rocks is where the fireplace used to be a very long time ago.

So, we all pitched in and started moving out rocks and leveling out the dusty den crawlspace.

Here are most of the rocks that Mike removed from the den...there were also a load of hickory nuts and three mummified squirrels.

We finished leveling the crawlspace and put plywood in place for a temporary walk space.

The best door improvement we've had in a while...my Dad made it possible to open this door from both sides!!!

Mike removed the floorboards in the second bedroom that will need to be patched.

I neatly stacked all of the floorboards that were removed from the den in the 4th bedroom.

Here is our first shipment of insulation.

This is part of the lumber that was delivered that will be used to level the plane of the walls in the original part of the house.
