Mike worked hard and mainly by himself (with only a little help from me) demolishing the walls and ceiling in the living room and the den. During the destruction we found the footing for the old fireplace in the den and a really cool painted ceiling. The original walls turned out to be tongue and groove pine and the ceilings were also 1" pine paneling. We found wood patchwork where the old narrow stairway must have been. And, in the whole process created a lot of trash.
